Level 1 Sewing Class: No prior sewing experience needed

Learn the art of patch working in this Intro to Hand Sewing class with Portland-based Ellie Lum of Klum House. Bring a denim jacket, jeans, a tote bag, or anything else you want to add patchwork to. We will go over basic hand sewing techniques, as well as stitches used in Boro Boro. No experience necessary! Extend the life of your clothing while creating functional art and building vital and utilitarian sewing skills. This workshop focuses on the multi-functional use of hand sewing to transform your well-loved threads into beautifully mended unique pieces of clothing. We will dig deeper into the art of mending by incorporating Japanese Boro patch-working techniques, as well as learning about how to work with a variety of fabrics. Bring a denim jacket, jeans, a tote bag, or anything else you want to amend with patchwork. Check out our blog post about our past Art Of Mending Workshop!
