Join Ellen Julia Brown and other Portland creatives for an evening of wine, pattern play, open studio, retail display, and a talk by the artist, which will likely include musings on the following: Google Earth, tribal body painting, microscope slides, Carl Jung, meditation, kaleidoscopes, the lines tractors leave on crop fields, and an attempt to deconstruct the notion of abstraction.
Ellen Julia Brown is a Portland-based visual artist and textile designer, whose first collection of handmade accessories, Light & Line, launched in February 2017. Ellen's art practice is driven by her love of pattern and the idea that accidental art permeates our everyday lives, at all scales of existence, if only we learn how to see and appreciate it. Her work blurs the lines between fine art and craft, abstraction and realism, the poetic and the mundane.
This is a free event, and all are welcome to attend. The artist talk will begin at 5pm.
