This workshop makes learning how to create beautiful patterns with indigo fun & easy! Learn the amazing Japanese resist-dyeing technique known as Shibori— a method of binding, stitching, and clamping fabric to create patterns when indigo dye is applied.

Shibori Indigo Dyeing

Join Lydia of Brass Button Events in this hands-on class where you’ll learn the basics of creating an indigo dye-bath using pre-reduced indigo crystals and Shibori techniques to generate unique patterns & designs. You’ll use folded, tied, and bound resist techniques demonstrated in class to create your beautiful indigo pieces. 

No experience is necessary, just come ready to learn and get your hands dirty— or blue! You’ll walk out with a new empowering skill, three dyed tea towels, and your choice of either a tote bag or pillow case.

SUPPLIES

Materials Provided

  • 3  100% cotton high quality four sack tea towels (Dimensions: 28" x 28")

  • Choice of tote bag or pillow case

Optional Materials

  • Feel free to bring 1 article made of 100% natural fibers to add to dye bath (Please do not bring sheets, duvet covers, and yardage exceeding 1/2 yard)

  • Additional tea towels & napkins will be available during class for purchase ($5/each)

Lydia Rhyne

Lydia is the owner of Brass Button Events, a creative workshop business focusing on private and corporate events. She is also a sewing teacher and part of Klum House’s creative collaborative. Constantly inspired by new creative mediums, Lydia’s worked in photography, sewing, leather working, watercolor painting and more. We are located inside the Hub Building hallway corridor (we do not have a sidewalk storefront). Enter through the Hub building door on N Williams with the Klum House sign above it. Walk down the hall & take a left. You'll see the Klum House sign hanging above our door.

*Please note: We have street parking, so please arrive a few minutes early to allow ample time to park.

Policy

Review our cancellation & rebook policy:

  • We require at least 7 days notice prior to the start of class to cancel for a full refund.

  • We require at least 48 hours notice prior to the start of class to rebook for a later class.

  • Full payment for class is due at time of sign up in order to secure your spot in class.

  • No shows forfeit any refund or rebook.

  • If Klum House cancels a class that you registered for, you are entitled to either a cash refund or a rebook to a later class.

  • If you transfer your registration to another class with a higher price, you are subject to pay the difference.
