Wiksten Shift Dress

This loose-fitting, summery shift dress is comfortable and stylish complete with front patch pockets. Our fabric is a beautiful cotton rayon blend that is slightly structured, but has a lovely drape and soft hand—perfect for summer outings!

In this two-day sewing boot camp (with lots of snacks & coffee breaks), Lydia Rhyne, a garment sewing educator with over a decade of experience, will lead you through all the sewing basics, sewing machine set-up, translating sewing patterns, and assembling you garment. A bit of sewing experience is needed, and all machines and materials are provided (Although, you may choose to bring your own fabric). Go home sporting a beautiful & summery shift dress complete with "I made this!" bragging rights.

Some sewing experience is required. You’re comfortable threading your machine & you’ve made a couple projects on your own.

The Wiksten Shift Dress Pattern is included in the price of class. We cut the yardage for your dress, so when you click to sign up, you’ll be prompted to choose your fabric color.


Although the pattern includes three different lengths to choose from (short, mid & long)— we’ll be focusing on constructing the mid length dress.



Fits US Women's sizes 0-22 (48” bust).  Size 0 sample is shown here on a size 5'11" tall model.  The loose fitting nature of this garment makes it possible to size down but the effect will be more fitted.


  • 2.75-3.25 yards of fabric. Light to medium weight woven fabric with good drape, such as brushed cotton, gauze, voile, lawn, chambray, linen, silk crepe and silk noil.

  • 1/4" yards lightweight fusible interfacing

  • All Purpose polyester thread in color matching outer fabric.

Lydia Rhyne

Lydia is the owner of Brass Button Events, a creative workshop business focusing on private and corporate events. She is also a sewing teacher and part of Klum House’s creative collaborative. Constantly inspired by new creative mediums, Lydia’s worked in photography, sewing, leather working, watercolor painting and more. She believes that great teaching is about creating a judgement-free zone that allows you to explore, laugh at your mistakes and smile at your accomplishments. See more of her work here.

What To Expect
What To Bring

We make it easy for you— No need to bring any supplies!

We provide all sewing machines, thread, supplies & materials for class. All kits are cut, prepped & ready to sew.

*Feel free to bring your sewing machine if you want to learn on it. We think it’s great to see what your machine can do. You can always switch to one of ours during class if your machine needs a break!

Food & Refreshments

There’s lots of local places to eat! We’re located in the same building as Ristretto Roasters, Kayo’s Ramen Bar & Tasty n Sons. New Seasons is a couple blocks away and Crisp Salad is across the street.

We suggest bringing a closed top water bottle & any diet-specific food if you think you’ll need it. We’ll have snacks, water, and tea!

We are located inside the Hub Building hallway corridor (we do not have a sidewalk storefront). Enter through the Hub building door on N Williams with the Klum House sign above it. Walk down the hall & take a left. You'll see the Klum House sign hanging above our door.

*Please note: We have street parking, so please arrive a few minutes early to allow ample time to park.

Review our cancellation & rebook policy:

  • We require at least 7 days notice prior to the start of class to cancel for a full refund.

  • We require at least 48 hours notice prior to the start of class to rebook for a later class.

  • Full payment for class is due at time of sign up in order to secure your spot in class.

  • No shows forfeit any refund or rebook.

  • If Klum House cancels a class that you registered for, you are entitled to either a cash refund or a rebook to a later class.

  • If you transfer your registration to another class with a higher price, you are subject to pay the difference.
