Maywood - Bag Maker Kit (Seconds)

I understand b grade means scuffs dents and per the description potentially off center. My kit had double punches through the leather that will rip when weight or stress will be applied. This is not the functually fine description. For the price I wouldn’t have taken the chance if I had known there would be structural issues with the leather.

I've made the dopp kit before from Klum House, and have been sewing for a few years, but was excited to try a bag that was a little more complex, and get experience working with rivets and leather. I assembled this bag largely in one afternoon, and have loved using it. It feels sturdy and well made, and I've been using it for grad school. Would definitely make another Klum House kit again!

I totally wouldn’t have been able to cut out and precisely cut all of the various notches and holes. This kit made the construction of this bag BEAUTIFUL and approachable. I highly recommend a kit for makers who haven’t worked with these materials before. It’s nice to manage one thing at a time (in this case construction as opposed to material gathering AND construction)

I got a navy and slate Maywood set and was disappointed that it came with natural colored straps. I don't think they go with the canvas color at all. I know it's a dice roll, but I've bought 2 seconds sets now and they both came with natural straps. If you're hoping for black or brown I think that's probably rare.

I did not receive the colors I ordered and then when I contacted you, the colors were gone.

This was so much fun to make. Worked with rivets but never leather or waxed canvas before. A fun project and makes a great gift. Can’t wait to try the leather wallet!

I was so excited to make this bag, and it didn't disappoint---it's a super cute but functional work bag! The kit made everything easy, and the seconds materials were in great condition. The colors of the leather and zipper worked well with the canvas despite the colors being a surprise! I am obsessed with all the Klum House kits and want to make them all.

I enjoyed making this and I know it will be a favorite to carry. I bought the second kit and I was hard pressed to figure out why it was discounted. Any inconsistencies were minor and only a Klum House worker would probably know. I think the selvedge was in the seam allowance on one piece and the color combo was opposite of what I expected. ( Accent color was body color) It was a true bargain for me!

The Maywood bag was not hard to make, but you need to be careful and pay attention to detail. The design is ingenious. It is a purse, tote bag, and back pack. My only caution is that there are many rivets to whack. It is a good idea to have a rivet remover on hand for any boo boos!
