Tubular rivets are metal fasteners used to add leather straps to your bag projects with an extra-strength hold. If you’re looking for super reliable, heavy-duty rivets, this is what you want to use. These are the rivets used on the Maywood Totepack, to make its convertible strapping system extra secure.
Tubular rivets must be set with a Tubular Rivet Peening Tool and a (non-rubber) mallet on a hard surface. The peening tool changes the shape of the rivet post end, creating metal spokes that grip into the leather. You can add on a Tubular Rivet Peening Tool at checkout, if you need one!
*See table in photo for help pairing leather thickness with rivet size* The Maywood Totepack uses medium tubular rivets on its 7—10 oz leather straps. Zipper pulls use a size small tubular rivet, as they are made from lighter weight leather (5—7 oz).
