This is the best tool for setting magnetic snap rivets (Sizes 18mm + 14mm). It includes a metal strike post with a concave end that protects the roundness of the magnetic snap rivet cap. It also comes with two anvils that correspond to the male and female sides of the magnetic snap rivet. Once set, the two sides of your magnetic snap rivet will find each other and click perfectly into place! If you’re making a Maywood Totepack or a Naito Bucket Bag, you'll want one of these.

It was just what I needed to finish my Naito Bag and worked perfectly

I love how easy it was to install these magnetic snaps!
I am trying to flatten the rivets using the rivet peening tool and a hammer. I am hitting each rivet more that 50 times and they don’t flatten against the leather.
I’m afraid since the rivets are not fully flattened , the straps might not be held properly in place when loading the tote bag.
I am quite discontent with the purchase.
Hi Isaac! Sorry to hear you're having trouble setting your tubular rivets. The solution is almost certainly one of two things: not using a hard, heavy-duty mallet (a rubber one won't work, it needs to have a lot of force and weight behind it) and/or not working on a hard, stable surface, like a slab of stone on top of a kitchen counter, or even down on a concrete floor or sidewalk. If you have the correct mallet and correct hard surface, you should be in good shape! You can also check out this video tutorial on out blog: https://bit.ly/3v1hNgw Best of luck!
PS - Just so you know, the product you've left this review on is the magnetic snap rivet setter, not the tubular rivet penning tool! :)
I easily inserted my snap with this tool! The right tool makes it easy.
Awesome, thanks for sharing Carolyn!
